Margaret Alice (Bigmom) Whitley peacefully passed away in her sleep and into the arms of her Savior on Friday morning, August 7, 2026. Margaret, 91, was born on September 19, 1934, in Hoovertown, TX. She was the first of five children born to J.D. and Inez Luttrell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 11, 2026 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow in the Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom, Texas.
She was a loving wife, an outstanding mother, a beloved sister and an exceptional grandmother, she had a rare gift for making everyone around her feel deeply loved, seen, and special. Her door, her arms, and her heart were always open; whenever someone needed comfort, advice, or a listening ear, she was there. Her presence brought a sense of peace and safety that cannot be replaced. She had a way of making life’s hard moments feel lighter and reminding those she loved that they were never alone.
Margaret married the love of her life, Lawrence “Bigdad” Whitley, on March 12, 1951. During their 59 years of marriage, they were blessed with four children, Danny Mark, Jackie Lawrence, Michael Stanley, and James Patrick; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Margaret poured her heart into Margaret’s Magic Mirror, the beauty salon she proudly owned and operated for more than 30 years. To her, it was much more than a business-it was a place where she shared her talent, laughter, friendship, and genuine care with generations of clients who became like family.
Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence; her children Danny and James; her parents, J.D. and Inez; and her siblings, Jerry Don, Roy and Ruby.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Jackie Whitley and his wife, Judy, of Blossom, Texas, and Michael Whitley and his wife, Terri, of Sylvan, Texas; her sister, Christine Allen, of Greenville, Texas; and her loving grandchildren, Beverly Eudy and her husband, Brad; Shane Whitley; Jason Whitley and his wife, Kerri; Ambrye Pedone; and Ashley Sandoval and her husband, Adam. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Margaret’s love, kindness, strength, warm spirit, and beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Although her family and friends will feel the loss of her every day, they will carry her memory in their hearts and find comfort in the love, laughter, and countless beautiful memories she leaves behind. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply.
