At just 10-years old, Cutter Grace Stephens is making a name for herself in the rodeo world. The Chisum Elementary student recently qualified for the Junior National Finals Rodeo/KK Run for Vegas in Las Vegas, turning her dream into reality and showing that age is no barrier to chasing big goals.
“She has competed all over Oklahoma and Texas trying to qualify, so when she did qualify in Levelland, the excitement she has was unexplainable,” said mom, Megan. “She looked at me and said, ‘I did it, momma.’ She has worked her butt off this year to get qualified.”
The prestigious event gives qualifiers the opportunity to run for over $250,000 in cash and prizes at the Las Vegas Convention Center in December.
Riding since she was 5-years old, Cutter Grace qualified aboard her 11-year old gelding, Boonshine Runner aka Shiner, the duo have a bond like no other and have been competing together for the past five years.
“Shiner was originally purchased as a breakaway for horse for myself but then Cutter grace stole him from me right away and they have been inseparable ever since. Their bond is like no other and he has been a major blessing to our family.”
Cutter Grace will continue competing and training in the lead up to the Junior National Finals Rodeo and will be hosting various fundraisers to help cover travel and entry expenses.
