In an effort to raise money for Christmas gifts for local nursing home residents, Lamar County first responders are hosting a charity softball tournament on Oct. 15 at Chisum softball field.
Teams will be made up of 11-12 players with three women on the field, and it is $275 per team ($25 per player). Games will be played as double elimination with halo rule in effect and 1:1 count, no courtesy. Games will be 50 minutes, finish the inning. Run rule will be 20 after 3, 15 after 4 and 10 after 5.
First game will start at 8 a.m., and losing team pays umpire $25 at plate. Softballs will be furnished.
“Remember this is a charity event and all proceeds go to purchasing gifts for nursing homes in Paris. First place trophy will be donated.”
