Bogata First Assembly of God, together with a National Non-Profit organization, is donating new shoes for local children.

“It’s a need in the community and we felt the Lord leading us to reach out and fill that need,” said Bogata Assembly of God Pastor Jacob Rose.

Members of the church recently visited Rivercrest Elementary School to measure 365 children from Pre-K to 5th grade to get them new shoes.

“Every child at the school will receive a new pair of shoes,” said Rose.

Local business owner and member of Bogata Assembly of God, Drew Miller took to Facebook Wednesday to go one step further for these kids and get them socks too.

“There were a lot of kids with really rough looking shoes and some didn’t have any socks,” said Miller.

Miller reached out to local businesses and friends to help their cause and have had donations already coming in.

“It’s easy to take something like a new pair of shoes for granted,” Miller said. “One young boy was very excited to get new shoes because he wouldn’t have to borrow his brother’s shoes anymore.”

The new shoes should arrive in the next four to six weeks.

“We want to give a package of socks with every pair of shoes we hand out,” added Miller.
