Leslie Kyle Martin passed away peacefully at his home after a courageous battle with cancer on September 6th , 2024.
Kyle was born in Paris, Texas on November 12, 1966. He attended Prairiland High School, where he graduated in 1985. In 1989, Kyle joined the Paris Police Department as a law enforcement officer, where he spent 20 years dutifully protecting the citizens of Paris as a patrol officer and later as a detective. After retiring from Paris PD, he worked as a reserve officer for Reno PD before joining the Paris ISD police department, where he worked at the Jr. High campus until the end of his career in 2023. Kyle thoroughly enjoyed his role in the school district. He took great joy and pride in the opportunity to have a positive impact on the youth of Lamar County while keeping them safe.
From a young age, Kyle was an avid hot-rodder and motorcycle enthusiast. His favorite pastimes were going for a ride with friends on a sunny day or taking the hot rod out on a summer night.
Kyle was preceded in death by his parents, Claudgene and Ann Martin, and his sister, Sondra Martin. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Kellie, of Pattonville; his son, Dustin, daughter-in-law, Peyton, and beloved grandson, Samuel, of Irving; mother- in-law, Judy Espy of Paris, niece, Bailey Espy, and nephew, Ethan Espy, of Paris; cousins Kaye and Ricky Cooper; great-uncle, Jimmy Hodges, of Cunningham; and a host of family and friends.
Kyle will be remembered for his integrity, honesty, work ethic, his willingness to always lend a hand, and his fierce love for his many friends and family. His character had a profound impact on those who knew him.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Prakash and team at Texas Oncology for their expertise, as well as Rachel Wood of Platinum Home Health hospice services for her warmth and comfort during this difficult time.
Last, for those attending the funeral service, Kyle would have loved for those that own hot rods and motorcycles to ride or drive them in his honor. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10th at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.
