In the unofficial results for Lamar County Precinct 1 Commissioner position, Alan Skidmore secures the win over Rick A. Ruthart.

Skidmore will take the position when Lawrence Malone finishes his term at the end of the year.

It was a close race with Ruthart getting 372 votes behind Skidmore’s 408.

For the state and federal Democratic votes, Royce West took the win over Mary ‘MJ’ Hegar for U.S. Senator. West finished with 384 votes over Hegar’s 283.

Chrysta Castaneda secured the Rail Road Commissioner position with 356 votes over rival Roberto R. ‘Beto’ Alonzo, who only took 292 votes.

In Fannin County, citizens were voting in run-off races for Precinct 1 Commissioner and Precinct 2 Constable.

Jimmy Helms won the vote over J.R. Strickland. Both men moved to the run-off after defeating Christopher Kitts in the March primaries.

Helms won with 279 votes over Strickland’s 194 votes, to continue his Precinct 2 Constable position.

Edwina Lane took to social media after results were in to thank voters for their commitment at the polls as she sealed the win over Ronnie Ball with 542 votes to his 471 count.

“Your faith in me and our shared vision for Fannin County is not something I take for granted. Each and every day that I come to work will become its own ‘job interview’ of sorts where I must continually earn your trust and respect,” said Lane.

Lane will take the place for outgoing Precinct 1 Commissioner Gary Whitlock.

Both Lane and Helms will take office in Jan. 2020.

And in Delta County voters made history during the run-off elections by voting in the first female County Sheriff Charla Singleton.

Singleton has won over Kevin Carter, with 766 votes to his 407 votes.

Singleton will now move up to the Sheriff’s position after serving as Chief Deputy for the Delta County Sheriff’s Office.
