With 135 police officers protecting and serving within Lamar County, Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop is, once again, preparing for its annual adoption event for Friday, Sept. 4, 2020.
Each year the organization puts officers up for adoption, and gift bags filled with various police supplies will be presented to them. These bags will contain items officers find useful while on duty and help keep them safe.
“We will then respond to them via private message with an officer’s name, or they can request a specific officer if that officer is still available,” Willows said. “They can also call or text 903-905-1229 if not online.”
Willows said the gifts given to officers will be a surprise, but adopters will be made aware of what they are getting.
“We want our officers to know that we feel so blessed to have such amazing officers in Lamar County,” Willows said. “We want them to know they are appreciated and supported by our community. We are also blessed by a wonderful community that appreciates those who protect and serve us each and every day.”
The adoption gifts will be presented to the officers during the Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop 5k at South Main Iron on National Thank a Police Officer Day, Sept. 19. .
Willows said for those unavailable to attend, gifts will be delivered to their departments.
Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop wants to say a special thanks to Dalton Kueckelhan and GearHead Gifts for “helping us with very special gifts.”
