For the second week in a row, East Texas A&M University track & field student-athlete Veronika Kramarenko has earned Southland Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Kramarenko (Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine) won the high jump for the second week in a row, both coming at SEC schools. Last Friday at the Owen Hewett Invitational in Oklahoma, she cleared 5-11.5 (1.82m) for the event win, which is also a new school record and the top mark in SLC this season, while being 12th in the country and fifth all-time in Southland history.
She is the only student-athlete in the Southland to go 2 for 2 in winning SLC Athlete of the Week awards this track & field season. Through two weeks of competition, the Lions have earned three weekly honors, which is the most for any school in the SLC.
The Lions are next in action on January 30-February 1 at the Stan Scott Memorial in Lubbock and the Robert Platt Invitational in Houston.
