Keep Paris Beautiful (KPB) will hold its annual Tree Giveaway and E-Cycle event on Saturday, February 22nd in the Lamar County Courthouse Parking lot. The event will begin at 9 am and run until noon.
The Texas Forestry Service is providing approximately 1000 bare root saplings specifically chosen for Lamar County soils. This year’s tree species include four types of oaks (Shumard, Sawtooth, Nuttall and Cherry Bark), as well as Pecan and Bald Cypress, and they will be available free of charge for any Lamar County resident.
“This is the 16th year for Keep Paris Beautiful to host this great event” said KPB Executive Director Julia Trigg Crawford. “Both the tree giveaway and e-cycle activities are much anticipated, and we’ve been fielding questions about them for months. KPB Board Members will be on hand to distribute the free trees, four to a family until they run out, so be there by 9 am to get the best selection. We’ll also have a landscape expert there to provide guidance on tree selection and care to ensure everyone gets the right tree for their property. This is always a fun morning, and we look forward to seeing lots of folks there.”
In addition to the tree giveaway, KPB is also partnering with Keystone Enterprises that same day on an E-Cycle collection on the North end of the Courthouse parking lot.
Beginning at 9 am, anyone can drop off a wide variety of recyclable electronics. Eligible items include computers, monitors, televisions, printers, fax machines, cell phones, stereo equipment, kitchen appliances, electronic cables and more.
They’ll also accept refrigerators, freezers and window A/C units, but the Freon must be drained before drop-off. City of Paris employees will be on hand to help unload everything.
