John Bob Pyeatt, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 15, 2023, surrounded by family who loved him dearly.
Funeral services have been set for Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 2 pm at Blossom Church of God with Rev. Benny Dollins officiating. Interment will follow at Knights of Honor Cemetery with Rev. Larry Bridges officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
Bob was born on September 8, 1941, in Jal, New Mexico to parents John Bob Pyeatt, Sr. and Katie Cooper Pyeatt.
Bob spent his childhood in Jal, New Mexico. He had a love for the outdoors and animals from a young age. Bob graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Animal Science. After college he went to Midkiff, TX and began cotton farming. Bob married the love of his life, Donna McDonald Pyeatt, on June 22, 1968. Their love and faith served as a solid foundation for the life they built together throughout the following 55 years.
In 1980, he and his family moved to Red River County, TX, and started their life and legacy in the area. Bob began a family tradition of ranching, with a love for quality Beefmaster and Red Angus cattle. Many of Bob’s cherished memories involved working cattle with his family and grandson.
Throughout his life, Bob owned and operated convenience stores in Clarksville and Blossom, TX. He was a friend to many and stranger to none. Bob had many accomplishments in life, but he would tell anyone that the greatest among them were his wife, kids and grandchildren. His favorite things in life had everything to do with his family. Bob never missed the opportunity to watch his kids and later his grandchildren play sports, often being one of the biggest cheerleaders in the stand.
Bob and Donna were active members in the Paris Church of God and later Blossom Church of God. His faith is a lasting example to many in his life. Bob’s loving personality and even bigger heart will be missed by all those who chanced to meet him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Melvin Lee Pyeatt, Sr. and Lawrence Allen Pyeatt. Bob is survived by his wife, Donna; a son Clint Pyeatt and wife Cora; daughters Amy McBroom and husband Scott, Becky Wilkins and husband Matt; grandchildren Katy & Cole Truelock; Cole & Trystan Wilkins; Cenzie, Cruz, Cwyn and Cayli Pyeatt; great-grandchildren Westin and Maisyn Wilkins; and many other family members and friends.
Pallbearers are Kenny Backus, Pete Farmer, David Pender, Cole Wilkins, Cruz Pyeatt and Cole Truelock.
