Jerry Gene Benham, 89, of Sumner, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at his home, while surrounded by family.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
Jerry, the son of Horace Eugene Benham & Mary Opal Hood Benham, was born May 8, 1934, in McCrury, Texas.
He attended Bogata Schools and played football for the Bogata Bulldogs. On May 20, 1960, he married Joyce Todd, building 63 years of family and memories. He served in the United States Army and enjoyed his time spent in Germany. His career with B & W spanned 30 years before his retirement. Jerry was a member of the Evening Optimist Club and dearly loved coaching peewee baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Benham, daughter Jill Benham Sugg & husband Marty of Pattonville, two granddaughters, Kayli and Amber, three great grandchildren, Colten, Ryder, and Brylie, one great great granddaughter, Kamdyn, one niece, Belinda Benham Pavageau & husband Dennis, nephews, Ronnie Benham & wife Tanya, Ricky Logan & wife Julie, and Kenny Logan & wife Marilyn along with a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jason Todd Benham, a sister, Gay Lee Benham Logan, and a brother, Johnnie Benham.
