The Lamar County Elections Office has confirmed that incorrect early voting information, previously identified in a candidate’s mailers last week, was again published in the Sunday edition of the local newspaper.
The candidate was notified when the original mailers were distributed that the information being circulated was inaccurate. To date, the Elections Office has not received confirmation that a correction has been issued to voters. The continued distribution of incorrect voting information creates unnecessary confusion and risks discouraging voter participation.
For absolute clarity: the only location for early voting in Lamar County is the Old Post Office, located at 231 Lamar Avenue. This location has been used for early voting in every election for the past 20 years.
The locations listed in Sunday’s newspaper are Election Day polling locations only and will be open March 3rd from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Voters are strongly encouraged to verify polling locations directly through the Lamar County Elections Office at 903-782-1116 to ensure they have accurate and official information.
The Lamar County Elections Office remains committed to protecting voter access and ensuring that accurate election information is clearly communicated to the public.
