Hugo School District has received their first walk thru metal detector. Friday night football fans will get to go thru this new security device before being allowed entrance into the game. Hugo High School also shared a new set of “Security Protocols” via Facebook. The following “Notice” was posted on the Hugo High School Facebook page:

NEW SECURITY PROTOCOLS FOR SPORTING EVENTS
In light of recent events Hugo Public School will be taking the necessary steps to protect students, staff and all spectators while attending sporting events. The following protocols will be enforced from this day forward. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but the safety and wellbeing of everyone at the sporting event is our main priority. There will be only one point of entry and that is main gate in the middle of the stadium and gates will open one and half hours before kickoff.
*All persons entering are subject to search by law enforcement officers and or by electronic means (metal detectors)
* No student type backpacks will be permitted.
*All other must be clear or approved medical equipment bags and all bags are subject to search (large purses, diaper bags)
*No re-entry
*No entry after half-time
*No one is allowed to gather in the end zones, must stay behind ropes
*Students younger than 6th grade must be accompanied by an adult
*No firearms or weapons of any kind allowed except for Law Enforcement
*No outside food or drink
*No alcohol
*No coolers, containers or ice chests
*No laser pointer, canned air horns, or any type of loud noise making horns.
