Huggies Diapers are breaking the mold with a new campaign. They’re known and trusted for a product that keeps baby’s bottoms dry and clean, but now the popular diaper brand is changing up their ad campaign style as they launched their new ‘Special Delivery’ diaper boxes recently.

“We are inspired by the loving bond that a parent feels with their baby and their desire to provide the very best care to their babies that they possibly can,” said Kristine Rhode, Huggies North America brand director, “these insights led us to create our most perfect diaper, so parents can provide their own perfect care.”

‘Breaking the mold’, on traditional advertising campaigns for this particular product line; the company said in a press release that they wanted to take a more modern approach this time round.

“Each size option of Huggies® Special Delivery™ diapers features adorable designs that are driven by contemporary market trends while helping parents know when a diaper change is needed with our Huggies wetness indicator,” said the release.

The boxes of diapers rolled out to stores earlier this month, and have since been met with viral praise online for not only the inclusion of dads in the conversation of child-care, but also for the diverse dads illustrated on the packaging.

Connecticut Dads Facebook page was so excited of the launch they posted; “Do Dads buy and change diapers? YES THEY DO! And here is the proof. Huggies puts DADS on diaper boxes for the first time.”

Joe Flowers Jr., a dad from Chicago, spotted the diapers and posted to Facebook on July 2. His post went viral and has been shared 80,000 times and has more than 5,500 comments.

“I was just happy to see that fathers were represented because we are never promoted on anything. That was my initial reaction,” Flowers told USA TODAY.”

The overall excitement seen on social media is not the simple idea of an African American father used as one of the featured photos; rather it is the inclusion to all parents or all races and sexes that Huggies is acknowledging.

Even The Dad website couldn’t hold their containment of happiness as they posted, “We did it, Dads! Huggies made news this week for putting a dad on the front of a diaper box for the first time in history.., This is a big win, and another step towards people realizing that dads are involved, parents.”

The new diapers feature a baby-side liner and waistband made with fibers derived from plant-based* materials such as sugarcane, carefully selected to help provide superior absorption and fit. They are free of parabens, fragrance and elemental chlorine, and dermatologically tested and clinically proven hypoallergenic for baby’s delicate skin.
