Paris Police Department’s newest officer, Trey Haislip, was sworn in Friday afternoon at ceremony surrounded by friends, family, and local law enforcement.

After being sworn in by Paris City Clerk, Janice Ellis, Haislip’s cousin, State Trooper Austin Steele pinned his badge on; a moment Haislip described as “surreal”.

We caught up with Haislip to learn more about our hometown’s newest officer.

Name: Trey Alexander Haislip

Hometown: Paris, Texas

Family: Recently married to Brianna Twitty Haislip

What did you do before becoming an officer: I spent six years as an Accountant in the Atlanta, GA area.

Why did you want to become an officer: I wanted a more personally rewarding career that would allow me to make a difference in the community. I found business was not the path for me. After prayer and support from family and friends, I began this journey.

What do you love about Paris: Paris is where I grew up and where I’ve always called home. I’ve spent several years away and never felt settled anywhere else. I love the community and the small town feel.

What was the meaning behind your cousin pinning your badge on you: My cousin has been the most supportive for me over the past couple of years. He’s encouraged me when doors were closed and never let me lose sight of my goal. Having him pin my badge was such a surreal moment due to the culmination of several years working toward this goal.

Congratulations Officer Haislip
