Head-on collision claims life of one, injures three more

A head-on collision on Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of one Paris woman and left serveral injured.

At approximately 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, a white 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by 79-year-old Beverly Moore, of Paris, was traveling southbound on FM 905 just south of Paris. 

“It is believed by DPS investigators that for an unknown reason, Moore’s vehicle traveled into the northbound lane and struck a 2012 Nissan Altima traveling northbound on FM 905 head-on,” said DPS Sgt. Mark Tackett.

 The driver of the Nissan Altima, 71-year old Ottis Callicoat, of Cunningham, and his passenger 65-year old Norma Callicoat, also of Cunningham were transported to Paris Regional Medical Center by Paris EMS and released with minor injuries.

 The passenger of the Corolla, Paris resident 64-year-old Sidney Colquitt, was flown from the scene by AirEvac to Medical Center of Plano in critical condition.

Beverly Moore, the driver of the Corolla was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gene Hobbs. 

“All occupants involved in the crash were wearing their safety belt at the time of the crash,” advised DPS Sgt. Mark Tackett.

 Next of kin has been notified. No other details have been released with regards to the accident at this time.
