Turtles are at the ready for the annual Johnny Stallings Memorial Great Paris Turtle Float, benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of the Red River Valley this Saturday, June 4, at Love Civic Center.
“Imagine 500 of the coolest and most green rubber turtles you have ever seen floating down the stream in a race to win for the youth of Paris and three lucky winners.”
Community members can adopt a turtle for $10 apiece, the adopted turtles will be released into the canal filled with water and the first turtle to cross the finish line will be awarded $3,000 – second place takes home $2,000 and 3rd place wins $1,000.
“Win or not, you know that you have supported the positive place for youth.”
Ten turtles will be selected at random after the event for a $50 prize.
To adopt a turtle, contact the Boys and Girls Club of the Red River Valley at 903-784-6360.
The race is set to take off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, “come on out and give your turtle a good pre-race pep talk and cheer them on as they head down the waterway.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley is to “inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.”
