Gladys Mowrey, 98, of Paris

Gladys Mowrey, 98, of Paris, passed from this life to the beautiful eternal life with her Savior and Lord on January 21, 2019. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 PM Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in the Meadowbrook Cemetery with Rev. Steve Gunter officiating. She may be viewed 30 minutes prior to service at cemetery.

She was born to Henry Clay Hartgrove and Bertie Bell Wood Hartgrove on June 19, 1920 in Amarillo, Texas. She moved to Hopkins County as an infant, then to Lamar County in 1929. She was employed at Nahas Mfg. Co. until it burned in 1980. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church since 1949, a member of the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class and she worked with the bereavement committee for many years.

She married L.M. Mowrey in Paris, Texas in 1941. They were blessed with one son, Oscar Mowrey. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband L.M. Mowrey, son, Oscar Mowrey, four brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by sister-in-law, Louise Hartgrove, niece Tammy Wood as well as a host of church family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund, 1771 Bonham St. Paris, Texas 75460.
