Gilbert Eugene “Bib” Richardson, 69, of Paris, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019, at his home while surrounded by his family.
Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. A formal service will not be scheduled.
Bib, the son of Loyd M. & Katie A. Cain Richardson, was born Feb. 15, 1950, in Paris.
At a young age he and his family moved to New Mexico. Upon returning to Texas, he worked in the oil fields in southwest Texas until the 80’s. He then became a truck driver, both long haul and short haul. Gilbert was involved in animal husbandry working with cows, goats, sheep, chickens and any animal one could think of.
He was a loving family man, and one never saw Bib without a kid on his lap.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry Richardson and two sisters; Mattie Tweedy and Nell Smart.
Survivors include his wife, Hope McGonagill whom he married in 1975, children; Loyd Richardson & wife Karen of Washington and Stacey Warren of Paris, grandchildren; Sarah Webb & husband Timothy of Paris, Travis Crossland & wife Whitney of Paris, Katie Hofstad of Washington, Morgan Stephenson & husband Clayton of Georgia, Sydney Richardson of Washington and Lyndsey Richardson of Washington, two nieces whom he & Hope reared as their own, Jessica Settle & Sarah Settle both of Paris, great grandchildren; Sophia Crossland, Briley Webb, Emberlee Crossland, Gracelynn Crossland, Keaton Larkin, Madilynn Settle, Grayson Settle and Kolbie Shipp, a sister, Susie Collins of MO, a brother, Jim Richardson of IL along with many nieces & nephews and a host of friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to Platinum Hospice for the care given their loved one and themselves.
