George Nolan Buchanan passed away on September 19, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 29, 1942, in Houston, Texas to parents, Cleve and Ruth Spraglin Buchanan.
After high school, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force and later worked in the American steel industry.
George will be remembered with love by his family and all who knew him. He shared 53 years of marriage with his wife, Mary Buchanan, and together they built a large and loving family. He is survived by Mary and by their children, Elizabeth Maupin, Rusty Buchanan, Stacie Smith, Sheile Hawkins, and Shane Buchanan.
He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Megan, Madison, Shelby, Taylor, Haley, Morgan, Ashton, Trisan, and Nikki, who were an important part of his life and legacy. George is also survived by his brothers, Mike Buchanan and Charles Buchanan, and by his sisters, Lisa Copeland and Gloria Bailey.
George’s life was centered on family, and his memory will live on in the many lives he touched through the years. May those who loved him find comfort in the years they shared with him and in the lasting bond of family.
