Gary Michael “Mike” Mowery, 74, of Paris, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Paris Regional Health following a lengthy battle with COPD. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 13th from 5 – 7 p.m. at Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
Mike, the son of Chelsea Rolin Mowery and Norma Francis Billingsley Mowery, was born Aug. 16, 1950, in San Diego, CA.
At the age of 2 the family moved back to this area, and Gary grew up in Negley and Clarksville. In 1968, he graduated from Hooks High School. He worked at the Monticello Power Plant in Mt. Pleasant, TX a few years before beginning his career with Merico, Earthgrains, and Sara Lee which spanned many years before his retirement. He was a faithful member of East Paris Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge for a number of years and was a Shriner.
Mike’s family was very musical. He played drums for a number of years, and he, his dad, and brother, Frank, had a band. He was a skilled carpenter and remodeled the family home several times. He was an avid wood worker and could fix anything.
His parents, a brother, Jerry Mowery, and a sister, Ruth Pickering and husband Don Roy preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Kelley Hinson, whom he married in 1992, two daughters, Kodie Russell and husband Aaron and Chelsea Stringfellow and husband Joshua, grandchildren, Hannah Grace Russell, Aaron Michael Russell, Owen York Stringfellow, and Jace Michael Stringfellow, his mother-in-law, Harriet Hinson, a brother, Frank Mowery and wife Linda, a sister-in-law, Deanna Mowery, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Lisa Rhoades, and a number of nieces and nephews including Shelby Kennedy and husband Chris along with a host of friends.
