Gary Maurice Sanders, 78, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Legend Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1st at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Charles Hodgkiss officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 – 11 a.m. Monday. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6th at Snyder Cemetery in Snyder, TX.
Gary, the son of Morris D. Sanders and Gladys O. Hammit Sanders, was born Dec. 13, 1946, in Snyder, TX. He graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock and from West Texas State University in Canyon with a degree in business management. He was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. He worked as a retail manager and the job he most enjoyed was manager of Follette Bookstore in Abilene and Sherman. Gary was a member of the Westwood Church of Christ in Paris and volunteered at the Downtown Food Pantry. He never met a stranger and if he shook your hand he was going to talk sports. Gary was an avid bowler and won some amateur championships in Las Vegas. He was a huge follower of the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Samuel Lee Sanders.
Survivors include a brother, William “Bill” Sanders and wife Anne, a nephew and nieces, Tony Sanders and wife Jennifer and Melinda Sanders and wife Monica, great nieces and great nephews, Blake Sanders, Drew Sanders and wife Brittany, Annelise Hogan and husband Brent, Tyler Sanders and wife Klaire, and Trent Bullard, and nine great great nieces wife Klaire, and Trent Bullard, and nine great great nieces and great great nephews along with a host of friends.
Honorary casket bearers will be; Blake Sanders, Drew Sanders, Brent Hogan, Tyler Sanders, and Trent Bullard.
