A fugitive, wanted out of Harris County for a drive by shooting, was arrested in Lamar County on Thursday.
On Mar. 18, detectives from the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division, were notified by detectives out of Houston Police Department, in reference to a fugitive, out of Harris County, Texas, that was possibly here in Lamar County.
The fugitive, twenty-four-year-old, Luis Rios was wanted for a drive by shooting that occurred in Houston on Mar. 3, 2024.
Detectives started searching for Rios’ whereabouts, gained information that he was here, in Lamar County.
In conjunction with the assistance from the Houston Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety Special Crimes Unit and the US Marshals, Rios was located on Thursday, Mar. 21, 2024, in the western part of the county and taken in to custody without further incident.
Lamar County Investigators, booked Rios in to the Lamar County Jail on the charges out of Houston, for Aggravated Assault on Public Servant, Aggravated Assault on Security Officer, Aggravated Assault Causes Serious Bodily Injury and Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon.
All charges stemmed from the shooting that occurred in Houston, on Mar. 03, 2024.
Bond has not yet been set for Rios
Rios will be awaiting extradition back to Houston, Texas.
“The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office commends all agencies involved, in helping with the apprehension of this violent fugitive,” said Sheriff Scott Cass.
