The inaugural Paris Junior College Dragons Golf Tournament saw 21 teams compete on a beautiful November day at the Paris Golf and Country Club. Players at the tournament, part of PJC’s 100th Anniversary Homecoming Weekend, had fun and all proceeds will help PJC athletic programs.
“Turnout was great, with businesses from town, former student athletes, alumni, and PJC faculty and staff,” said PJC Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Clay Cox. “It’s been a great mix. Everybody has been able to hang out and see each other and have a great time.”
After the day-long scramble, winners received awards and trophies. Closest to the pin on Hold number nine, courtesy of HWH, was James Hall. Longest Drive at Hole number 14 went to Ryan White. Closest to the pin on the 16th hole went to Joe Salter.
Third place team with a par 57 was led by PJC Head Basketball Coach Bill Foy, joined by Coach Billy Mac Steed, Bailey Foy, and Grant Emmons.
Second place at par 56 was a team made up of Dragon Baseball graduates, including Matthew Castaneda, Brandon Morse, Bailey Broom and Josh Mancuso.
First place with a par 55 went to Gatz Nottingham, Audrey Nottingham, Gary Holtman, and Robbie Russell.
Plans are already underway to repeat the event next year.
“We’re looking forward to making this bigger and better next year,” said Cox.
