A search warrant on a Fannin County residence Wednesday resulted in the seizure of drugs, firearms, ammo, over $15,000 in cash and more.

Fannin County Sheriff Mark Johnson said officials executed a search warrant on County Road 2900 in Fannin County after the resident was arrested by Grand Prairie Police.

Operating off a tip from an inter-agency drug bust in Arizona, the Grand Prairie Police Department arrested 44-year-old Christopher Michah Montgomery of Fannin County which then led the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office to make the large bust.

“Because of his arrest that led us to search a home we had been watching in Fannin County for quite some time,” said Johnson. “Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 24th, we conducted a search of the home by written consent of the owner and later obtained a search warrant.”

The search was part of an ongoing investigation and upon obtaining a search warrant, investigators not only seized countless amounts of drugs and firearms but they discovered a large marijuana growing system.

“It was a very elaborate marijuana growing system, probably one of the most sophisticated ones I’ve ever seen with three to four outbuildings,” said Johnson.

An array of drug edibles including brownies, cookies, and marijuana pills, we seized as well as LSD, cocaine, Xanax, morphine.

“Multiple firearms were seized and thousands of rounds of ammo, $15,843 in cash plus silver coins and gold coins,” added Johnson. “He was manufacturing it all and running quite a large operation.”

On top of the charges out of Grand Prairie, Montgomery was also charged with Manufacturing and Delivering Controlled Substance – Penalty Group 1 (more than 4 grams less than 200 grams), Manufacturing and Delivering Controlled Substance – Penalty Group 2 (less than 400 grams), Possession of Marijuana – 5 lbs less than 50 lbs, and Manufacturing and Delivering Controlled Substance – Penalty Group 3 (4 grams less than 28 grams).

“This was definitely a team effort and our investigators and officers did a tremendous job getting these drugs off the streets.”
