Facebook, at their social network’s annual F8 developer conference, announced several new, upcoming updates to their various social media platforms. A particularly interesting feature mentioned was of Facebook’s new “Secret Crush.”

Secret Crush is a feature that will allow Facebook Dating users to select up to nine friends who they would like to express an interest in. Much like other dating apps like Bumble or Tinder, except your potential matches are hand-picked by you from your friends list.

Here’s how it works:

If someone from your friends list were to add you to their Secret Crush list, Facebook will send you a notification saying, “A friend added you as a secret crush.” If you were to then select the same person for your list, Facebook will match the two of you together and reveal your names.

If feelings are ever one-sided, then no need to fear rejection or embarrassment, the unrequited lover’s identity remains a secret, (cause we all know Facebook is great at keeping secrets).

The feature will be available only in countries where Facebook has rolled out its Dating service, including Colombia, Canada, Thailand, Argentina, and Mexico, as well as 14 new countries in Asia and South America introduced today. Facebook Dating, along with its new Secret Crush feature should be available in the U.S come the end of the year. If you don’t already have a Dating profile, you can’t receive Secret Crush notifications.
