News of a new indoor multi-purpose sports complex being built in Paris broke over the weekend and now more details are emerging about NETS – Northeast Texas Sports Complex set to open in the Spring of 2019.

“We’re in negotiations to put in an American Ninja Warrior style obstacle course and have started working on stage two which will include four baseball/softball fields,” said NETS owner Skyler Burchinal.

NETS is the dream of locals brothers, Skyler and Spencer Burchinal who both desire to make Paris bigger and better for generations to come.

The idea for the sports complex came about two years ago but it wasn’t until Skyler bought the 52 acres of land on the NW Loop that the vision started to come to life.

“It was such a great opportunity and we’re very excited about it,” said Skyler. “This would have never been possible without the help of the Paris City Engineer, Carla Easton who has been great throughout this whole process and has done everything in her power to get the information we needed to get it done.”

Skyler and Spencer expect to break ground on the 40,000 sq. ft. complex next month and are hoping to be up and running by the start of Spring next year.

The complex will feature a regulation-sized indoor soccer field, as well as two regulation-sized dual purpose basketball and volleyball courts.

“Soccer is a huge sport, not just in our area but in other areas as well and we plan on hosting tournaments that will bring more business to Paris,” said Skyler“We expect 1,500 to 2,000 people at each tournament which ultimately will be huge for local hotels and restaurants in Paris.”

The indoor facility will be available to rent for private events and will also have a concession stand and small sporting shop.

Outside there will be three sand volleyball fields and two more soccer fields.

“We will be able to host leagues for soccer and volleyball as well as clinical camps like soccer, football, church camps etc,” added Skyler.

Another service NETS will offer locals is an after-school program.

“We will have two vans that will pick children up from school and bring them back to NETS for after-school care.”

Cost of the after-school care program will be $60 per week/per child with sibling discounts available and pre-enrollment is expected to open in early 2019.

The launch of NETS will also bring jobs to the Paris area with 10 full-time positions and more than 10 part-time positions that will be needed to be filled.

While a date hasn’t been set for the launch of stage two, Skyler explained it’ll have four baseball/softball fields with plenty of spectator seating.

“It’s very exciting times and we can’t wait to launch NETS.”

“We’d also like to thank Greg Wilson and Lamar National Bank for seeing our vision and being able to help us with this amazing project”

Northeast Texas Sports Complex will be located behind Plex Roofing at 1301 NW Loop 286 in Paris.
