Emmy Lou Blackburn was born December 6, 1935 in Paris, Texas to parents, Cecil Grey and Mabel Lowrance Blackbourn. She passed away in Paris, Texas on March 17, 2025. She was 89 years old.
Emmy Lou attended Blossom school and graduated from Paris Junior College where she was a member of the Tennis Team. She married Harold Blackburn in 1956 and the couple had three lovely daughters. At the time that Harold passed away, they had completed 68 years of marriage.
She loved her family and was passionate about maintaining an immaculate house and yard. Her hobbies included gardening and working in her flower beds along with sitting outside and spending time with her children and grandchildren.. Her family would tell you that she was the best cook around! She was famous for her chocolate pies, Thanksgiving dressing and homemade rolls. She was a faithful Christian. When her health confined her to her home, she spent many hours in Bible study and listening to sermons.
Emmy was proceeded in death by her parents and husband, Harold.
She is survived by her daughters; Bev “Bebo” Cantrell and husband, Phil, Susan Coston and husband, Bubba, Dana Parker and husband, Roy; Grandchildren, Kristy Blackshear and husband, Colin, Kelly Freelen and husband, Jamie, Jeff Pasquill, Alyssa Woodall and husband, Landon, and Aaron Parker; Great-Grandchildren; Emalee Freelen, Baylee Freelen, Cash and Lee Blackshear, Jensen and Easton Pasquill, Laney, Landry and Lexi Woodall and Great-Great-Grandchild, Suttyn Sanchez. She is also survived by her sister, Gale Hervey and husband, Buford and sister-in-law, Becky Blackburn.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 19 at 3:00 PM at Fry Gibbs Funeral Home. Brother Mike Fortenberry will officiate the service.
