Emmitt Scott “Scottie” Nichols, 71, of Paris, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Christus-St. Michaels Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Haley, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Following the funeral service the family will be at the home of Mandy & Jason Huddleston, 2242 FM 906 E, Powderly, TX 75473.

Scottie, the son of Emmett & Ava Jetton Nichols, was born May 4, 1948, in Paris.

He graduated from Powderly High School. Never without a job, he began working at the age of 13, riding his bicycle to work. His retirement came when his health failed while still working at Turner Pipe.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Some of his greatest times were spent on hunting trips to Wyoming with Gary Holcomb, Buddy Holland and other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Cody Scott Nichols, three brothers, Elvis Nichols, Ellis Nichols, and Jack Nichols and a sister, Lawanda Marshall.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Smith Nichols, whom he married on Oct. 28, 1977, building forty-one years of family and memories, two daughters, Misty Lara & husband Bradley of Texarkana and Mandy Huddleston & husband Jason of Powderly, one son, Bryan Scott Nichols of Paris, ten grandchildren; Brooke Rea & husband Jon Marc, Brittney Nichols, Natalie Harrison & fiancé Sam, Julie Harrison, Jason Huddleston, Jr., Braydan Nichols, Kooper Little, Koren Little, Tanner Harrison and Jada Huddleston, one sister, Doris Nichols Anderson of Paris, sisters-in-law, Linda Nichols, Bobbie Nichols and Shirley Lawson & husband Danny all of Paris along with many nieces & nephews and a host of friends.

Casket bearers will be: Buddy Holland, Gary Holcomb, Freddy Daughtrey, Roy Tom Stone, Randall Holland and Danny Lawson.
