Edgar Allen Smith, 81, of Vidor, formerly of Lamar County, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at his home.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3rd, at East Post Oak Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow in East Post Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the fellowship hall of the church following the graveside service and will be at the home of Phyllis Vaughn in Blossom at other times. Mr. Smith, the son of Alton B. and Betty Kerr Smith, was born Nov. 16, 1936, in Corpus Christi.

While living in Paris he was a realtor and insurance salesman. Allen was a member of the Texas Association of Realtors and a member of East Post Oak Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley Clegg Smith, a brother, Alton P. Smith and a brother-in-law, Donald Vaughn. Survivors include a daughter, Angela Green & husband Damon of Vidor, his beloved grandchildren; Jordan Green, Jaidyn Green and Jyllian Green, a sister, Phyllis Vaughn of Blossom, a sister-in-law, Jo Ann Smith Urbanosky & husband Harold of Navasota, along with several nieces & nephews whom he held close to his heart, and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be Trent Allen, Carl Vaughn, Darrel Vaughn, Rob Smith, Howdy Smith and Jordan Green.
