Dr Pepper is on a mission to become the ‘official soft drink of Texas’.

The Texas-based company, created in Waco in 1885, is the oldest major soft drink in the United States.

The company launched a petition on change.org

“Dr Pepper has a rich, storied history in the great state of Texas and being named its official soft drink would mark a new milestone for the beloved brand to celebrate for generations to come.”

To celebrate its mission to become the Official Soft Drink of Texas, Dr Pepper will debut a collection of special edition bottle labels inspired by the brand’s heritage, available only in-state for a limited time.

The Dr Pepper Texas-inspired bottle collection includes 15 unique labels with artwork depicting some of the state’s most iconic landmarks and landscapes.

The 20 oz bottles are available for purchase in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and Waco, and fans are encouraged to collect them all in honor of the great state of Texas and its beloved beverage brand.

There is no word on how many signatures would be required to make things official.

As of Thursday morning, 16,452 has signed the petition.
