The Texas Department of Public Safety has released corrected information regarding the fatal HWY 37 wreck on Friday afternoon.

“The Dodge pickup was northbound and drifted into the southbound lane,” said DPS Information Officer Mark Tackett. “The Ford pickup was traveling southbound.”

“The Dodge steered to the right and the Ford took evasive action to the left and they collided.”

Updated information has come from further investigation into the wreck.

Texas Department of Public Safety Information Officer Mark Tackett stated the wreck happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon on Texas HWY 37.

“A three-quarter ton Dodge pickup, driven by Earley, went to make a u-turn in the middle of the highway when Fletcher, who was driving a 1997 one-ton pickup struck Early,” said Tackett.

Tackett said both drivers were wearing seatbelts and want to make it clear that the two drivers weren’t driving irresponsibly and there is nothing suspicious. Officials are unsure at this time why Earley was making a u-turn in the middle of the road.
