Dorris Louise “Granny” O’Donnell, 96, of Paris, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025, at Heritage House of Paris.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home will make private burial at Bluff Cemetery in Red River County, TX.
Mrs. O’Donnell, the daughter of Guilford Owen Adams and Lula Thelma Hall Adams, was born Nov. 22, 1928, in Red River County.
Dorris attended school in Red River County. She worked for a period of time at Montgomery Ward in Ft. Worth and was a receptionist at a doctor’s office in Texarkana. She did babysitting, creating her extended family whom she never forgot. Dorris was a volunteer with the auxiliary at L. P. McCuistion Regional Medical Center and Legend Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. A faithful Christian, she was a member of the Blossom Church of Christ. She was a wonderful baker and was known for her cakes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hugh Wesley O’Donnell, whom she married on June 28, 1947, an infant son, a son, Hugh Douglas O’Donnell, four brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Handy, a granddaughter, Heather Handy, three honorary grandchildren, Nicole Nichols, Sommer Dear, and Jeffery Elder and a number of nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.
