Doris Armstrong Avery, 81, of Paris, passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, at Heritage House of Paris.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5th, at Restland Cemetery in Roxton with Rev. Bill Draper officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Avery, the daughter of John Robert & Myrtle Annett Armstrong, was born May 28, 1937, in Chicota.
She graduated from West Lamar High School. Her career in retail spanned many years. Doris was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Avery, whom she married on July 15, 1961, building fifty years of family and memories before his death on March 9, 2012. Also preceding her in death were her son, Stan Avery on June 13, 2004, a grandson, Jake Avery on June 13, 2004, her parents, John Robert & Myrtle Armstrong, her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Theo & Grace Avery, brothers; Junior Armstrong, R. B. Armstrong, Harold Armstrong, Will Armstrong, Harvey Armstrong, Martin Armstrong and J. C. Armstrong, and sisters; Robbie Jo Huggins and Katherine Draper.
Survivors include three daughters; Tammy Crook & husband Bill of North Carolina, Candy Williamson & husband Jeff of Reno and Stacy Tempas & husband Benton of Colorado, her daughter-in-law, Tenny Avery Tanton & husband Anthony of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren; Jordan & Cherie Williamson, Justin & Miranda Williamson, Victoria & Chase Crook, Ella & JT Tempas, Jaleigh & Allie Avery and Toni Tanton, great grandchildren; Bailee, Hunter & Aubrey Williamson, brothers; Bob Armstrong & wife Janice, Doug Armstrong and Ed Armstrong, special friends; Scott, Sherry, Evan & Hayden Moree, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Bill Draper, Charles & Jerry Avery and John & Nell Avery along with a plethora of nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Jordan Williamson, Justin Williamson, Chase Crook, JT Tempas, Scott Moree, Bill Crook, Benton Tempas and Jeff Williamson.
