Dollie Ruth Templeton, 82, of Sumner, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28th, at West Post Oak Cemetery with Rev. Randall Scott officiating. A formal visitation will not be scheduled, however, those wishing to pay respects may visit the funeral home through Monday evening.
Mrs. Templeton, the daughter of C. B. and Melvalee Cottrell Singleton, was born Dec. 18, 1935, in Loraine, TX.
She graduated from Sundown High School where she made All-State on her basketball team and was a cheerleader.
She and her first husband, Billy Joe Norton, owned and operated two drive-in restaurants, Dolly Cup and Tips, in Childress, TX. Later they opened Dolly Cup in Muleshoe. She and Billy Joe were members of the Elks Lodge in Childress. Dollie was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her first husband & lifelong friend, Billy Joe Norton in 2009, her second husband, Travis Templeton, in 2001, her parents, C. B. & Melvalee Singleton, son-in-law, David Vassey, sister, Nellie Blackburn, and brother, Sonny Singleton.
Survivors include three children; Rick Norton & wife Tera of Midlothian, Rena Vassey of Sumner, and Tina Norton of Dallas, grandchildren; Alex Norton, Ryan Norton, Bailey Norton, Toni Gardiner & husband Jason, Becky Smieszek, Trista Vassey & Bryan Ezzell, Kristan Humphreys, Addison Malone, and Hannah Malone, great-grandchildren; Kade Vassey & fiancé Taylor Jones, Kaleb McFadden, Ethan Denton, Allie Ruth Denton, and LaRue Ward, siblings; Ann Caddell, Nita Burreson & husband Stanley, Kathy Barnette & husband Mike and Johnny Singleton & wife Pam along with many nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the cancer research hospital of one’s choice.
