Detroit ISD announced Monday afternoon the district is using the CDC and TEA’s latest COVID-19 guidelines in regard to student and staff quarantining.
The stay-at-home period for individuals who have been in close contact with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive can end for individuals experiencing no symptoms:
- On day 10 without testing (instead of 14 days)
- On day 7 after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later)
After stopping quarantine, the CDC recommends that individuals:
- Watch for symptoms until two weeks (14 days) after exposure.
- If you have symptoms, immediately self-isolate and contact your healthcare provider.
- Wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet from others, wash hands, avoid crowds and take steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
COVID “Close Contact” Quarantine Rule Changes:
- The CDC has adjusted its guidance related to COVID-19 quarantines due to close contact and DISD will be adopting those changes immediately.
