Cold weather doesn’t stop locals with sales up this Valentine’s Day

Locals didn’t let the cold weather, or fog, stop them from getting up early to get last minute Valentine’s Day gifts.

“We’ve had people lined up since about 7:30 this morning,” said Andrew Thrasher with The Chocolate Kettle.

Sales have almost doubled this year, with many ordering online prior to Valentine’s Day.

“We started doing deliveries almost two weeks ago with online orders, we had about 300 of those, and we’ve had people coming in last minute and texting and calling all hours of the night,” Thrasher said.

The Chocolate Kettle may be known for their chocolate covered cheesecake, but this year chocolate dipped strawberries in a Valentine’s box are the more popular item.

“This year we doubled our staff, we bought a big wedding sized tent and we’ve got supplies stacked up ready to go.”

Other items available are the chocolate turtle, Reese’s and German chocolate dipped cheesecake, as well as, family and office packs and, of course, the chocolate dipped strawberries.

If you haven’t had a chance to grab your loved one a Valentine’s Day gift, The Chocolate Kettle is set up on the corner of Collegiate and Lamar and will be open till 7:00 p.m. this evening.
