In a unique and insightful session, Coach Chad Austin engaged students in Mrs. Wideman and Mrs. Boutwell’s Principles of Health Science classes at North Lamar High School. As a licensed Professional Embalmer and Funeral Director, Coach Austin provided valuable insights into mortuary science during their unit on death and dying.
The session delved into various aspects of mortuary science, offering students a rare opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge from an expert in the field. Coach Austin shared his experiences and expertise, enhancing the students’ understanding of the practical aspects of the subject.
Mrs. Boutwell expressed her appreciation, stating, “Coach Austin’s willingness to share about this very interesting and much needed service provided students the opportunity to learn about and explore a career often under represented when one thinks of health science. His ability to be candid, yet discreet, in his explanations helped bring understanding to the students questions regarding this part of the death process.”
The students were actively engaged, asking questions and participating in discussions that went beyond the textbook, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
