“Swing for Success” is the theme for a new event set for Saturday, June 4, at Pine Ridge Golf Course’s Top Tracer range, better known as “The Range at the Ridge”. A family-friendly event, the Top Tracer scramble will play a virtual representation of Pebble Beach.
Each team will be composed of four golfers with one flight teeing off at 6 p.m. and the second flight at 7:45 p.m. The meal will be provided by Burgerland and dessert provided by Here’s the Scoop Ice Cream Truck. Retro Class Entertainment, Rydell Martin, will be providing entertainment for the evening.
“This is a unique opportunity for our community to bring their families and friends out to enjoy an evening of virtual golf, good food, kids activities, music and to support a wonderful cause,” Event Chair, Beth Bray said.
“So many people in our community may know of CitySquare, located at 2515 Bonham Street, but have no real knowledge of the scope of services provided Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.,” said Rochelle Hodge, Advisory Council Chair.
In 2021 CitySquare served 518 families providing 755 showers and 471 loads of laundry. These numbers were a 300% increase over 2020 and thus far in 2022, the numbers are on track to exceed last year’s figures.
“Not only do we serve adults in our community, but we also serve teens,” Hodge added. “Each weekday, teens 13-18 are brought by PISD bus to our Teen Center where they receive a meal, tutoring, and enrichment activities.”
CitySquare also has an expansive clothes closet for all ages, and serves as a community activity center available for summer youth camps, sports teams, and events. All these services are free to the community through the generous support of businesses, industries, individuals, partners and kind hearts beyond Lamar County.
Currently, Swing for Success is seeking sponsorships for the various levels: $2000, $1000, $750, $400, $200, and $100. Each level of underwriting comes with special benefits.
