Charles Samuel Smith, Jr., 67, of Clarksville, went to be in the hands of his Lord on Friday, April 12, 2019. He was a loving person that loved his wife & his family, loved life, and loved to laugh.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 16th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Webb & Rev. Lynn Tyson officiating. Graveside services with Rev. Stacy Cunningham officiating will follow in Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Charles, the son of Charles Samuel Smith, Sr. & Maudie Mae Montgomery Smith, was born Oct. 15, 1951, in New Boston. On June 8, 1973, he married Brenda Thompson, building forty-five years of memories. They lived all their married life in Clarksville.

Charles was a skilled welder for thirty-five years at Phillips, while still hauling hay and operating a portable welding business on the side. It was while still working at Phillips that he opened A1 Tire Store in Clarksville.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Charles loved the outdoors, camping, and riding his motorcycle. He had a love of cars, trucks, and enjoyed buying and selling anything.

He assisted the police department by opening locked cars and on several occasions Charles saved the lives of unattended children by opening locked car doors.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Samuel Smith, Sr., his mother, Maudie Smith de la Cuesta, a brother, Davey Earl Smith, and two brothers-in-law, Roger Thompson and Larry Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Thompson Smith, four sisters; Darlene Ray & husband James of Sumner, Janice Bowden & husband Roy of Blossom, Ginger Melton & husband Roger of Nacogdoches and Linda Ross & husband Steven of Blossom, two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Miller and Charlotte Cunningham & husband Rorry, a brother-in-law, Eddie Thompson along with many nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, great great nieces & nephews and a host of friends.

With his outgoing personality, he has touched the lives of many, many people and will definitely not be forgotten and will be forever loved.

Casket bearers will be: Tony Bowden, Jamie Ray, Monty Melton, Brent Brown, Bryce Cunningham, Jordan Cunningham, David Barnes and Chase Lewis. Honorary bearers will be: Martin Wheeler, Micah Martin, Mike Nunez, Roy Bowden, James Ray, Roger Melton, Steven Ross & Rorry Cunningham.
