Calvin Ray, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on September 22, 1937, in Arbuckle, California, Calvin spent his final years in Paris, Texas, where he cherished time with his family. Calvin worked in the aggregate industry his entire life. He was a regional manager for Vulcan Materials and also for Meridian Minerals for many years and later was owner of his own quarry called Fittstone in Oklahoma.
Calvin, affectionately known as “Papaw” was a man of few words but immense love. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in reading books and enjoying time with his dear wife Corrine and his family. His favorite place in the world was Wyoming, where he found solace and often reflected on his fond memories and his time there. He leaves behind his loving children, John Gagnon and his spouse Joy Erben and his daughter Heather Felsberg and her husband Daryl Felsberg. Calvin was the proud grandfather to Ryan Pescaia, Garrick Felsberg and Zoe Felsberg, with whom he created countless treasured memories. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Corrine Ray, his daughter Jennifer Gagnon and his sister Linda Reidi. Calvin’s quiet strength and deep affection for his family will be profoundly missed. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Instead of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Calvin’s name to the Paris Public Library. They accept cash and checks and please include that the donation is for the “Calvin Ray Memorial.” He was an avid reader and loved to share his love of books, reading and the library with his grandchildren.
