During the regular Bonham City Council meeting on July 14, two Bonham Police Officers were recognized for their outstanding work and exceptional service.
Officer Cody Trauer received a Merit Award for going above and beyond when called to assist a veteran that had traveled to Bonham for care.
“He showed empathy and understanding when working with this individual and sought out immediate solutions to care for this visitor,” said Chief Hawkes.
Captain Melanie Elliott received the Life Saving Award for diffusing a life-threatening situation.
“She built rapport and trust with a suicidal person which resulted in saving the person’s life and ensuring that no citizens were harmed during the incident.”
Chief Hawkes said both officers went above and beyond and demonstrated exceptional dedication to the community and compassion to the public.
“As officers, it is our goal to rescue people from dangerous situations, assist vulnerable individuals, and perform acts of kindness that positively impact the lives of those we serve. We are proud of these officers and proud of the entire Department.”
