At their regular meeting held on Monday, February 27, 2023, the Bonham ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve Coach John Ramsey as the District’s new Boys Athletic Director and Head Football Coach.
District leaders are excited about the decision and look forward to seeing the Purple Warrior Football and all boys’ athletic programs prosper under his leadership.
Coach Ramsey is originally from Bells, TX. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and a Master of Science in Sports Administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
He has served at Bonham ISD for the last 8 years. Coach Ramsey has served as the Purple Warrior Head Baseball Coach for all of those 8 years. He also has served various roles for our Football Program including Defensive Coordinator and Special
Teams Coordinator for multiple head coaches. Prior to Bonham ISD, Coach Ramsey served as the Defensive Coordinator and Head Baseball Coach for Blue Ridge ISD.
Coach Ramsey is married to BHS Alumni, Amy Morrison-Ramsey. Together they have two beautiful daughters that attend Bonham ISD.
“I am deeply honored at the chance to lead the Fighting Purple Warrior programs. Together our programs will shine with Purple Pride,” said Ramsey.
