Bobby Gene Exum, “Bob”, age 83, of Paris, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Christus Health of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Roden-Pryor Funeral Directors will conduct graveside services 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 in the pavilion at Evergreen Cemetery with Chad Barnes officiating. No formal visitation is scheduled.
Bob was born January 9, 1936 to Gene and Arminta (England) Exum in Paris, Texas. He was a Paris High School graduate class of 1954 and was a student at Paris Junior College. Bob worked twenty years (1956-1976) as a general foreman at UARCO, Inc. helping build the new plant “from the ground up.” He retired from the US. Navy having served honorably for forty years at the Navy Recruiting Command in Dallas, Texas. He was acknowledged as the most successful Chief Petty Officer and Zone Supervisor in the District overseeing twelve Navy Recruiting Stations in the D/FW Metroplex and Northeast and Southeast Texas districts. Over his career, Bob received many decorations including, multiple Armed Forces Reserve Medals, multiple Navy Achievement Medals, a Gold Wreath Award with Silver Star; among many others.
He is survived by a son, Chip Exum, his wife, Beth, of Paris, Texas; a son, Kelly Exum, of Paris, TX; a sister, Sharon Kay Fortner, and husband, John, of Terrell, TX.; grandchildren, Ashley Henriksen, and husband, Brian, of Wylie, TX.; Jason Exum, and wife, Clarisa, of Paris, TX; Josh Exum and Katie Exum, of Paris, TX.; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Sharon Ruth Exum, and a sister, Pat Slagle.
