Billie Ruth (Parks) Blaylock, 88, of Paris, Texas, departed  Springlake Memory Care and arrived at her heavenly home on Saturday evening, October 13, 2018.

Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery.

Billie was born October 5, 1930 in the Slate Shoals community and grew up in the Novice community. She was the daughter of Thomas (Bear) and Dorothy Parks. She attended schools at Medill and Paris. She graduated Paris Junior College and later received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from East Texas State Teachers College and her Master’s Degree from North Texas State University. She was a dedicated educator for 40 years in various schools. She taught both special education and regular classroom assignments in Alma, Arkansas, Irving, Farmers Branch, Carrollton and Paris. She had a gift and passion for teaching young students to read.

She married Ronald Wesley Blaylock on December 31, 1952 in Alma, Arkansas. They had one son, Ronald Steven Blaylock.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son.

Survivors include her brother, Hubert Parks and wife Jewell of Irving; sister, Juanell Ramsey of Powderly; one nephew, Larry Parks and wife Linda of Grapevine; two nieces, Regenia Parks Geyer and husband Michael of Irving, and Kim Ramsey McClusky and husband Mike of Katy. Billie is also survived by three great nephews, Matthew Parks, Preston Geyer, and Reid McClusky.

A special thanks to the staff of Springlake for providing loving care for the last eight years. The family was at peace knowing she was in good hands.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Novice Baptist Church where she had been an active member for many years prior to her illness.
