Barbie by Mattel is launching their ‘Inspiring Women’ series that not only gives a shout out to the women who changed history, but is set to inspire a whole new generation of young girls.

“Girls have always been able to play out different roles and careers with Barbie, and we are thrilled to shine a light on real-life female historical figures and famous athletes to remind them that they can be anything,” senior vice president and general manager of Barbie, Lisa McKnight, said in a press release.

Mattel’s newly announced collection of both inspirational and historically significant women will feature some very well known figures including artist Frida Kahlo,  aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart, NASA Mathematician And Physicist Katherine Johnson,  American activist Rosa Parks and Sally Ride, whowas the first American woman — and youngest American — to fly in space.

Then there is also conservationist, Bindi Irwin who comes with a koala bear and also athletes such as volley ball champion Hui Ruoqi, and snowboarding champion Chloe Kim.

The list continues, and Barbie has pulled inspiring women from all era’s and all walks of life.

“The Barbie brand believes girls should never know a world, job, or dream women haven’t conquered. Through our global platform, we are igniting a movement to help close the Dream Gap and further establish Barbie as the ultimate girl empowerment brand,” McKnight said.

Barbie surveyed 8,000 mothers. They found out that 86 percent of them are worried about what kind of role models their daughters are exposed to, so the company created 17 new dolls of real and famous women. Women who are known to have inspired millions over the generations.

And with their work over recent years, Barbie endured to create even more inclusive Barbie dolls by creating a Robotics Engineer Barbie collection, launching a “You Can Be Anything” campaign, diversifying the look of available Fashionista dolls, and creating The Dream Gap Project to raise awareness globally to decrease the limitations in the potential of women, and more initiatives.

With so many inspiring dolls to choose from, Barbie has successfully continued to rebrand themselves while keeping the integrity of their iconic stylish doll.

The dolls are currently available online and cost about $30.00.
