Barbara Jean Shelby was born August 12th, 1942 in Idabel, Oklahoma to Ray and Fannie Ferguson. She was the 5th of 6th children.
Barbara retired in December, 2016 from the Moore Law firm in Paris after many years as a legal assistant. She was very active at Southside Baptist church, serving on committees, teaching Sunday School, and volunteering in any way she could.
Barbara was pre-deceased by her first husband, and the father of her sons, CA Jobe, her second husband and the love of her life, Ben Shelby, and her third husband, Jimmy Shelby. She was also pre-deceased by her brothers, Kenneth, Vernon and Bill Ferguson, and stepdaughter, Patricia.
She is survived by her sons, Owen Jobe and his wife Kelley, of Reno, Texas, Danny Jobe, his wife Joy, of Clayton, North Carolina, their three children, Andrew, Rachel and Abigail, and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Pam Robertson and her husband Curtis, of Amarillo, their 3 children, Candace, Beau and Andraya, 18 step great-grandchildren and 4 step great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two dear sisters, Bobbie Smith, of Woodland, Texas and Velma Jacobs, of Amelia Island, Florida. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Tuggle Springs Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
