The 13th Annual Kid’s Marathon, sponsored by United Way of Lamar County, is set to kick off on March 22 at 5 p.m. at Trail de Paris’ entrance near Love Civic Center.
“The event is designed to encourage students to run a marathon, which is 26.2 miles, over the course of eight weeks,” said event organizers. “Our primary goal is to encourage children to be more physically active.”
As a way to help improve community health, the annual Kid’s Marathon is free to any Lamar County student from kindergarten to 6th grade. Students will get a running log, and their first mile will run along Trail de Paris on March 22.
The Kid’s Marathon will come to a close on May 17 from 4-6 p.m. Registration opens Friday, Feb. 25, here. For more information contact Sabrina Rosson at srossonuwlc@gmail.com or 903-517-1052.
