Aaron Parker Elementary hosted a career day for its PreK-4 students on Friday, April 21, 2023. The event featured presentations by professionals from various fields, including a pilot, a dentist, a radio DJ, and a marketer.
The goal of the event was to expose young students to different careers and inspire them to dream big about their futures. Each presenter shared their personal experiences and provided an overview of their profession. The students had the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the presenters.
The presenters for the event included:
- Barry Diamond, a radio DJ employed by Payne Media Group, who shared his passion for music and talked about what it takes to succeed in the entertainment industry.
- Emily Kruse, a pilot with JXS Airlines, who shared her experiences flying commercial, as well as semi-private planes and provided insights into the aviation industry.
- Dr. Cliff Kerby, a dentist at Spencer and Kerby Dental, who discussed the importance of oral health and gave a behind-the-scenes look at the dental profession.
- Lauren Woodard, a marketer and business owner of Southern Social Pro. She explained how companies create and promote their products and services.
The students enjoyed getting to meet these professionals in real-life and learning about the tools they use to help them succeed in their profession. Surprisingly, none of the PreK-4th grade crowd knew what a phone book was, however, thanks to Mrs. Woodard’s presentation, they do now.
