On July 1, Officers responded to the 1800 block of Polk Street regarding a reported burglary of a residence. Upon arrival, the resident advised officers that an unknown suspect had forcibly entered the home. Officers observed signs of forced entry, as well as furniture that had been overturned and other property that had been damaged inside the residence. The incident remains under investigation.
On July 1, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of Southeast 3rd Street for an expired motor vehicle registration. Upon making contact with the driver, officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted, during which the driver admitted to possessing methamphetamine. The driver was taken into custody and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1-B, in an amount greater than or equal to 1 gram but less than 4 grams, a Third Degree Felony.
During this reporting period, officers conducted 25 traffic stops, made 6 adult arrests, and responded to 70 calls for service.
